A nine-year-old girl’s knees were ‘cut to ribbons’ after she walked through a theme park attraction.

Graphic pictures showed Olivia Ward with bloodied legs following her walk in the Martians Mirror Maze at Wheelgate Park in Farnsfield, Nottinghamshire.
She had sliced her knees open after colliding with a mirror that smashed instantly.

‘She’s scarred for life,’ her mum, Zoe Ward, a cook from Nottingham, said.
‘I wouldn’t have thought a children’s ride at a theme park would be capable of hurting someone like that. Her legs were cut to ribbons.’
An ambulance was called immediately and she was taken to Kings Mill Hospital where she had 20 stitches.

Mrs Ward added: ‘She ended up in A&E and it’s ruined the summer holidays for us.
‘We were going to book to go away on the 26th, but we’re probably not going to now because Olivia won’t be able to enjoy everything.’

Mrs Ward said the ride was temporarily closed on Wednesday but wants it to be closed down permanently.
Staff at the 40-acre venue, which is also home to a farm and a water park, said there would be no comment from Wheelgate Park about the incident.
