Now you can own a luxury home on riverside billionaire's row for just £1.5million - so long as you don't mind living on a BOAT

Riverside views: These retro-inspired armchairs offer the perfect place to enjoy the sunshine streaming in through the large windows

With floor-to-ceiling windows and a retro-inspired bar, this trendy interior wouldn't look out of place in the penthouse of an upmarket apartment building.
But these photographs were taken inside a high-end houseboat that has gone on the market for £1.5million.
Photos after the cut

The 100ft vessel is moored on the Thames at the entrance to Cheyne Walk, known as London's billionaire's row.
The street, in the heart of Chelsea, is home to a string of high-profile current and former residents, including former England footballer Sol Campbell.

Thoughtful touches: State-of-the-art appliances combine with carefully chosen light fixtures and bar stools to create a very stylish kitchen

Powder room: A uniform white colour palette and mirrored fixtures create the illusion of space inside this feminine dressing room

Billionaire neighbours: The houseboat, a former shipping barge, is moored at the entrance to Cheyne Walk, in upmarket Chelsea

Sophisticated: Floor to ceiling windows mean the living space on the houseboat is flooded with plenty of natural light

Modern living: As well as offering plenty of space, the houseboat also has plenty of storage and a built-in desk for working at home

Plenty of character: A spiral staircase and carefully chosen furnishings bring personality into the ultra-sleek living space
Floating oasis: Plush powder pink curtains act as a clever divide in the master bedroom, which boasts stylish mirrored wardrobes
The palatial houseboat is named 'Joseph Conrad' after the great 19th century author who wrote literary classics like The Heart of Darkness and Nostromo, many of which had nautical themes.
Nigel Day, of estate agents Riverhomes, said: 'This houseboat really is a stunning floating home in the heart of Chelsea.

'It might look like a houseboat from the outside but inside it's not what you'd expect at all.
'It's been completely rebuilt from the bottom up to the very highest of standards. Work started around four years ago and such was the level of detail they went to that it took three years to complete.
'It might seem like a lot of money for a houseboat but an equivalent home in bricks and mortar in Cheyne Walk would cost around £5 million.

'There's unobstructed views down the Thames and you could take the tender down the Thames to one of any number of riverside pubs.
'It's a totally different way of life.'

Soaking up the sun: This private terrace at the front of the boat has enough room for a dining set - perfect for a morning cup of coffee
Million-pound bargain: While the price tag might make some eyes water, property experts insist the houseboat is a sound investment
Home comforts: The houseboat was completely renovated four years ago to produce this elegant example of riverside living
Exclusive address: The Joseph Conrad is moored just feet away from Cheyne Walk, which boasts a number of high-profile residents
